LOCAL
CHEF TO COOK UP SUPER BOWL FARE AT THIS
MONTH’S INDOOR FARMERS’ MARKET AT THE
COUNTY CENTER
Chef-of-the-Month Mathew Karp
will prepare a variety of tasty and
healthy snacks to add to your Super Bowl
menu at this month’s Indoor Farmers’
Market on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3,
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the
Westchester County Center in White
Plains.
From 1
p.m. to 2:30 p.m., local chef and
restaurateur Mathew Karp from Plates in
Larchmont will create great snacks and
dishes that are ideal for Super Bowl
fare using ingredients from the day’s
market. So, you can get some new and
healthy food ideas to add to the day’s
festivities and shop for the ingredients
right at the market as well, along with
other goodies for the big game. Chef
Karp will
also show you how to transform such
winter crops as turnips, winter squash,
mushrooms and cabbage into great tasting
and healthy meals that will please
everyone in your family.
The
Farmers’ Market is held once a month on
select Sundays through May and comprises
more than 40 vendors with fresh produce
and food products direct from New York
State farmers and food producers. The
market offers dairy products, cheeses,
baked goods, maple syrup, honey and
jams, along with meats, poultry and
wines. Shoppers can sample food to help
make their selections as they make their
way through the market. Live
entertainment is provided by performers
from the Tribes Hill community, a group
of musicians from the Hudson Valley.
Admission is free. Parking at the County
Center lot is $4.
The
market will also be held on Sundays,
March 16, April 20 and May 18.
The
Farmers’ Market is sponsored by
Westchester County Parks and 107.1 The
Peak radio.
